Sales of PTWs in the European Union increase by 10.3% during the first quarter of 2014

A total of 252,260 powered two wheelers (PTWs) were sold during January, February and March 2014. This represents an increase of 10.3% with respect to the same period for 2013, when 228,645 units were sold. All the largest European markets for PTWs performed well. On a year-to-year basis sales increased on Spain (+21.2%), UK (+13%), Italy (+9%), France (+4.4%) and Germany (+2.6%).

All the largest European markets for PTWs performed well. On a year-to-year basis sales increased on Spain (+21.2%), UK (+13%), Italy (+9%), France (+4.4%) and Germany (+2.6%).

During the first quarter of 2014 the motorcycle segment grew by 18.3% compared to the same period in the previous year. A total of 188,719 motorcycles were sold against 159,500 for the first three months of 2013. Year-on-year sales increased in key European markets including Germany (+26%), Spain (25.8%), UK (15.6%), Italy (+12.3%) and France (+12%).
