Implementing acts of the PTW regulation officially published in the Official Journal

Two delegated regulations on vehicle functional safety requirements and on vehicle construction and general requirements for the approval of two- or three- wheel vehicles and quadricycles were published in the Official Journal of the EU in January. The two pieces of legislation supplement the provisions of Regulation 168/2013 (PTW regulation).

A delegated regulation on vehicle functional safety requirements (RVFSR delegated regulation) and a delegated regulation on vehicle construction and general requirements for the approval of two- or three- wheel vehicles and quadricycles (RVCR delegated regulation) were published in the Official Journal of the EU on 10 January and 28 January respectively. The two pieces of legislation supplement the provisions of Regulation 168/2013 on the on the approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles (PTW regulation).

The publication of these two acts is certainly not the last step in the implementation of the PTW regulation. A delegated regulation on environmental and propulsion performance requirements (delegated act) will most likely be published in the coming weeks. Furthermore the Commission services are currently working with Member States’ experts on a regulation on administrative requirements (implementing act) .

ACEM continues to closely monitor this process in order to ensure that the PTW regulation is fully and properly implemented and that these new rules are workable for both industry and national type-approval authorities.
