ACEM President

Michele Colaninno was born on 23 November 1976 in Mantua (Italy). He holds a degree in Business & Economics from the Catholic University of Milan. He is Chief Executive Officer of the Piaggio Group, founder and Chair of the US robotics company Piaggio Fast Forward. Since June 2022, he has also been President of ACEM (Association des Constructeurs Européens de Motocycles), the Brussels-based European motorcycle industry association. He is Chief Executive Officer of Omniaholding S.p.A., the company that controls Immsi S.p.A., an industrial holding listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (IMS.MI) with interests in finance, real estate and manufacturing, which reported 2022 turnover of more than 2.1 billion euro. Michele Colaninno is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Immsi Group, which controls the Piaggio Group and also holds investments in a number of important Italian industrial groups. In 2017, Michele Colaninno delivered a lecture to the Harvard University I-Lab on the impact of robotic technologies and artificial intelligence on daily life, linking the new innovations to the Piaggio Group Design Thinking process.

Claudio Domenicali (Italy, 1965) is the Chief Executive Officer of Ducati Motor Holding. He graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Bologna and joined Ducati in 1991. Over the years, Domenicali rose through the ranks serving as CEO of Ducati Corse (the racing division), Director of Product R&D, and becoming CEO in 2013 following the company’s acquisition by the Audi Group. Under his leadership, Ducati has achieved major successes in motorsports, while also driving innovation in motorcycle design and technology. Domenicali is recognized for blending Italian craftsmanship with modern engineering and for his strategic vision in expanding Ducati’s global presence. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a passionate motorcyclist and an advocate for education and sustainability in the automotive sector.

Passionate motorcyclist, Markus Flasch (Austria, 1981) studied Automotive Engineering at the Joanneums Technology School in Graz. His career began at Magna International reaching his last function as Member of the Board for Operations & Quality Europe. In 2015 Flasch joined the BMW Group as Vice President with overall concept responsibility for quality for Rolls-Royce product line & BMW luxury class. Afterwards Flasch was Subline Manager BMW 8 Series, followed by his time at BMW M GmbH. Under his leadership, BMW M GmbH rose to become the world's leading supplier of performance and high-performance cars as well as the fusion of BMW M GmbH with BMW Motorsport. From November 2023, Markus Flasch took over the position as Head of BMW Motorrad.

Vito Cicchetti was born on August 25th 1960 in Port Colborne (Canada). At the age of 16 his family transferred to Italy where he graduated from artistic high school. In January 1985, he joined Honda holding different positions related to motorcycles through the years. In 2009, he was promoted Commercial Director and became also member of Honda Italia Industrial board of Directors. His career continued progressing with his nomination in March 2010 as representative for Europe Sales Strategy & production Planning development operations conducted in Japan, and his appointment in January 2011 as member of the worldwide fun business and commuter business committee. In March 2015 he was transferred to the European Honda Headquarters in the United Kingdom, Honda Motor Europe LTD as General Manager for all European Motorcycles Sales operations. In March 2020 he was promoted as President of Honda Motor Europe Switzerland in charge of the coordination of all business units in CH. From April 2023, after almost 40 years of experience with Honda across Europe, he is now part of the new Business Transformation Office located at the Headquarters in United Kingdom as Business Transformation Planning lead.

An Italian-Swedish national, Antonio Perlot has been Secretary General of ACEM since 2014. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading and coordinating the work of the association and representing the motorcycle industry at European and international levels. Prior to this, from 2006 to 2014, Mr Perlot served as ACEM Public Affairs Manager, advising the motorcycle industry on public and regulatory affairs. Between 2001 and 2006, Mr Perlot worked for the Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations (FEMA), first as Campaigns Officer, then as Secretary General. Prior to that, he worked at EPRO as a public affairs consultant representing clients from different industry sectors. He has also worked in the NGO sector. Mr Perlot holds a BA in Political Science (with a specialisation in European integration) from La Sapienza University and a MA in Diplomatic Studies from Società Italiana per l’Organizzazione Internazionale (SIOI).

Dr Veneta Vassileva is responsible for coordinating the road safety activities of ACEM and its members. She also acts as ACEM representative within several bodies including the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association’s (IMMA) Road Safety Working Group, the European Partnership on connected cooperative, connected, automated and autonomous mobility (CCAM). Dr Vassileva has prepared IMMA’s policy document ‘The Shared Road to Safety – A global approach for safer motorcycling’ (2014, 2025 editions). She also coordinated the ACEM safety strategy “The Safe ride to the future 2.0” and “The Safe ride to the future 3.0” . Manager of the European project “European Motorcycle Training Quality Label”. Prior to joining ACEM, Dr Vassileva worked as a Project Manager at the European Red Cross Office, where she was in charge of coordinating the IV European Red Cross Road Safety Campaign and for the Bulgarian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross as an expert on health promotion and prevention. Ms Vassileva holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Sofia Medical University (Bulgaria).

Fluent in multiple languages, he is adept at fostering dialogue across Europe’s diverse cultural landscape, advocating for sustainable, safe, and innovative mobility solutions. Francesco serves as the Public Affairs Officer at the European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) since October 2022, leveraging his expertise in EU policy and regulatory affairs to advocate for the motorcycle industry. His experience includes a role at Tesla, where he followed policy developments affecting energy and transport sectors, and an internship at the Delegation of Piedmont Region to the EU, contributing to policy analysis and regional decision-making.

Pierluca Cialoni joined ACEM secretariat in February 2024 as Regulatory Officer. Under his role, he is working on technical developments to ensure the motorcycle sector properly addresses risks and opportunities for the benefit of the vehicle and therefore the user. His assignments also include coordination of working groups dealing with sustainability and safety strategic priorities within our strategic Vision2030+. Before ACEM, Mr Cialoni worked as Design Engineer and Product Regulations Expert in a global automotive component supplier company, specialising in brake system development with a focus on market implementation of legislations related to two-wheel and three-wheel vehicles. Mr Cialoni was born in Italy and obtained a Master of Mechanical Engineering from Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy).

Tom Schultze joined the ACEM secretariat in July 2025 as a Regulatory Officer. In his role, he is working on technical developments to ensure the motorcycle sector properly addresses risks and opportunities for the benefit of the vehicle and therefore the user. His assignments also include coordination of working groups dealing with sustainability and safety strategic priorities within our strategic Vision2030+. Before ACEM, Mr Schultze worked previously as a Homologation and Quality Engineer in a Motorcycle Manufacturer, specialising in Type Approvals and Project Management with a focus on getting vehicles compliant to technical regulations and ready to go into production. Mr Schultze comes from an international background, being half German half Italian and having grown up in Brussels, Belgium. Mr Schultze´s Alma Mater is the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Swansea, where he obtained a B.Eng in Motorcycle Engineering. He is currently pursuing an M.Sc in Advanced Motorcycle Engineering from the University of Bologna (Italy).

Neus Armenjach joined ACEM in July 2024 as Communications Officer. In her role, she supports the deployment of the communication strategy, communication campaigns, and organisation of events. Neus contributes to crafting key messages to reach relevant stakeholders, promoting the motorcycle sector’s priorities and initiatives. She is also involved in the content creation for the organisation’s digital presence through different social media platforms. Prior to ACEM, Neus gained experience in EU-related communications and event organisation at EURADA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Reporting and a Master's degree in Strategic Communication from the University Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, Spain.
