Registrations of PTWs increase by 1.5% during the first seven months of 2014

 

A total of  779,588 powered two wheelers (PTWs) were regsitered during the first seven months of 2014 in the EU. This represents an increase of 1.5% compared with the 768,232 units registered between January and July 2013. Between January and July registrations in the motorcycle segment grew by 7.4%, whilst moped registrations fell by 11%.

A total of 779,588 PTWs were regsitered during the first seven months of 2014 in the EU. This represents an increase of 1.5% compared to the 768,232 units registered between January and July 2013. Most of the largest European markets performed positively, with registrations increasing in Spain (+17.5%), UK (+11.6%) and Germany (+2.6%). Registrations grew by 0.6% in France and went down by 0.3% in Italy.

Between January and July 2014, the motorcycle segment grew by 7.4% compared to the same period in the previous year. A total of 559,927 motorcycles were registered against 521,340 for the first seven months of 2013.

Between January and July 2014, a total of 219,661 mopeds were registered in the EU, whilst 246,888 had been registered in the same period of 2013.
