Powered Two-Wheelers play a role in our Society. From sports to tourism, from commuting to small logistics, motorcycles, scooters and other small vehicles belonging to the L-category provide mobility, leisure and opportunities for social inclusion. A role that deserves being recognised and promoted.

33 million Powered Two Wheelers circulate in Europe. A growing number of European citizens use PTWs on a daily basis to beat the traffic and find a parking place in city centres, both for private and professional use. During the motorcycling season, many riders enjoy the great outdoors, endeavoring on exciting trips to reach remote tourist destinations, or simply going for a weekend trip in the countryside. Professional motorcycle sports is followed by millions of spectators and viewers worldwide, reaching out beyond the riding community itself. Enthusiasts enjoy practicing motorcycle sports themselves at amateur level, where new generations are also taught the positive values of sportsmanship through the numerous events that animate communities around Europe.

Despite these facts, all too often PTWs are missing or simply forgotten in mainstream EU policies. This not only fails to acknowledge the benefits PTWs generate, but it also can stand in the way of meaningful mobility, environmental and safety improvements, which are stated as EU goals.

Motorcycling provides quality of life through jobs, affordable mobility, and the enjoyment of sports and tourism.  Motorcycling contributes towards wider economic and social goals.  In other words…”Motorcycling Matters!“
