8th International Motorcycle Conference 2010

Safety, evironment, future were some of the topics covered by the conference

The 8th International Motorcycle Conference of the Institut für Zweiradsicherheit (Institute for Motorcycle Safety - ifz) was held in Cologne on the 4th and 5th of October under the headline ‘Safety – Environment – Future’ and represented a unique exchange of experiences covering all aspects related to powered two-wheelers.

The Ifz-conference took place prior to the 7th International Motorcycle and Scooter exhibition INTERMOT Cologne 2010 and was as usual organized in co-operation with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) from the USA. With contributions from specialists from all over the world regarding the situation of powered two-wheelers – from the development departments of the manufacturers to road traffic users – the status of current safety research and the comparison of legal conditions were internationally considered.

Subjects covered included accident analyses, riding, road performance and rider’s education, vehicle and driver’s equipment as well as the state of the art in technology and research. Environmental compatibility and perspectives for safe mobility on two wheels shall complement the broad based topic. Scientists, researchers, practitioners, politicians, employees of administrative bodies and authorities as well as representatives of the motorcycle industry are called upon to make contributions to the 8th International Motorcycle Conference and contribute to the multidisciplinary character of the event.
