Dear Reader,

I recently had a very positive meeting with Vice-President of the European Commission Jacques Barrot, in charge of transport. This was the opportunity to discuss his initiative on the Green Paper on Urban Mobility and provide him with the ACEM position paper in response to the consultation by DG TREN.

ACEM views the current process on the topical issue of urban mobility as an opportunity to improve the participation of powered two-wheelers, in terms of mobility and safety, and believes that Europe can play an important role in conveying best practices towards this objective to our cities.  ACEM and the European Commission have been joining forces on many important initiatives seeking to improve powered two-wheeler mobility: the MAIDS study, the Road Safety Charter and, recently, the eSUM project, which will bring together industry and cities to jointly look at powered two-wheelers in the urban environment.  You will find news on each of these subjects, and more, in our newsletter.

Enjoy your read!
